Sky Mavis’ Ronin Sidechain Adds 3 New Authenticators

Sky Mavis’ Ronin Sidechain has added three new validators to the project, increasing the validator set to 17. New Ronin validators include Efficient Frontier, Community Gaming, and Nansen.

Three new validators have been added to Ronin, an Ethereum-linked sidechain running the play-to-win game Axie Infinity. An effort to strengthen security after the $600 million heist in March.

Axie Infinity developer Sky Mavis’ Ronin development team has been upgraded from the 14 validators the chain’s security has to 17 validators in the new blog post. The number of people confirming transactions on the sidechain has increased due to adding new validators.

Three entities added as Ronin validators include Efficient Frontier, Community Gaming, and Nansen, the Ronin team said. He added that it is approaching its goal of establishing 21 independent validators.
We are excited to introduce three new Ronin network validators, bringing the total number to 17, making progress towards achieving our initial goal of 21 independent validators collectively securing the network.”

In March this year, Ronin had one of the biggest cryptocurrency attacks. Five of Ronin’s nine validator nodes eventually came under the control of hackers identified as the North Korean outfit Lazarus. As a result, they managed to get 173,600 ETH and 25.5 million USDC off the bridge for more than $600 million.

The team announced in April that it would increase the number of validators as a post-hack security measure. Validators verify transactions using majority consensus or agreement of validators on a proof-of-stake blockchain.
