India leads the globe in the adoption of PLAY-TO-EARN gaming

The Play-to-earn (P2E) concept of blockchain has exploded in recent times. Among the many applications of blockchain tech, P2E is one of the most exciting ones. Players are encouraged to play the game to earn crypto rewards in return.

Finder.com recently surveyed the players who engage in NFT gaming across the globe. According to the report, 43,312 persons from 26 countries were polled for data related to various parameters of NFT gaming.

India has taken the top spot in Play-to-Earn (P2E) games. According to the new survey, 34 % of Indian respondents had played a P2E game. NFT gaming is also popular in Hong Kong (29 %) and the United Arab Emirates (27 %).

On the other hand, Sweden is at the bottom, with only 4% of respondents who say they have played NFT games. France (6%) has had a modest uptake, just above Sweden.

India is at the top, followed by Hong Kong.

According to Keegan Franci, Finder’s cryptocurrency editor, Hong Kong’s P2E adoption rate is already twice the global average of 14%. And he believes it will continue to expand.

"By the end of the year, an additional 8% of Hong Kongers aim to play a P2E NFT game, bringing total adoption to 36%." Men participate more than women in P2E in Hong Kong. Men stated they had played a play-to-earn game 31 %, while women said they had played 27 % of the time.

Other nations

While India and Hong Kong compete for first place, the United Arab Emirates is climbing the rankings (27 %). The Philippines is next, with a difference of only two percentage points (25 %).

France will witness the largest growth in the adoption of NFT games, with the percentage of persons playing NFT games predicted to rise from 6 % to 15 % by the end of 2022, implying that NFT games will grow by 2.6 times. Peru (up from 13 % to 29 %) and Spain will be the other notable movers (8 % to 17 %).

"P2E is on the rise globally, with usage likely to grow 10% on average," according to Finder's analysis.

"For new players, there are a variety of platforms to pick from, each with its own set of mechanics," Francis explains. Some are free to play, but others need a deposit, such as Axie Infinity. You might consider joining a Guild if you want to play a game but can't afford the entry fee, such as the Axie NFTs required to play. Guilds allow academics to play games like Axie Infinity for free by lending them the necessary NFTs, and you are usually entitled to a portion of the profits while the rest goes to the guild."

Gender-wise bifurcation

Men dominate P2E gaming. They are more likely than women to say they've played NFT games, with 17 % of men and 12% of women internationally stating they've done so.

Age-wise distribution:

Those under the age of 35 dominate NFT gaming.

Those aged 18-34 are the most likely to have participated in a play-to-earn game, with an average of 18 percent stating they had. India has the largest percentage of respondents in that age range, at 42 %.
