A well-known researcher in the crypto world, Virgil Griffith, has been formally indicted for conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers. Virgil has been granted bail, but he is still locked up in prison.

Virgil has been suspended from Ethereum.

According to the Block report, Virgil’s lawyer informed that Virgil has been suspended from Ethereum, but the foundation supports Griffith in his fight. Earlier, Vitalik Buterin revealed that Virgil was counseled against his visit to North Korea. Currently, DPRK is facing sanctions from the United States, and Virgil has been alleged to help them evade those sanctions by giving a presentation on blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Virgil is still locked up in prison.

When Virgil first applied for bail, it was denied, but the second it was accepted on the ground that he puts up a $1 million bond and stays with his parents. But he has not satisfied his bail demands yet as he is still awaiting the approval of his co-signers and the posting of properties as collateral. The crypto community has voiced its support in favor of Virgil. Several people said that he cant be punished for giving a presentation on publicly available information.
