The United States Department of Justice has charged Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and 14 other officials of using cryptocurrency for Narco-Terrorism.

US Attorney General William Barr announced a series of direct charges against President Nicolas Maduro and the main leaders of the Venezuelan regime, such as Padrino Lopez, Diosdado Cabello, Tareck El Aissami, among others offering a series of rewards for their captures. The officials have been accused of using cryptocurrency for drug trafficking and other criminal activities.

The US Department of Justice is offering $15 million for information leading to the arrest of Nicolas Maduro.

The US Department of Justice, in a statement, said that they are offering $15 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and up to $10 million for other officials. The formal accusation claims Superintendent of Cryptocurrencies, Joselit Ramirez worked with Tareck El Aissami to provide private flight services for the benefit of Maduro’s 2018 presidential campaign, which violated OFAC’s sanctions.

Venezuelan government is using cryptocurrency for illegal activities.

Alysa D. Erichs, special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), claimed that the government of Venezuela has been using the cryptocurrencies to carry out their illegal acts of drug trafficking, money laundering and activities associated with terrorism. Attorney General Barr said that the Venezuelan regime, once led by Nicolás Maduro, remains plagued by criminality & corruption. Maduro & a number of high-ranking colleagues allegedly conspired with the FARC, causing tons of cocaine to enter & devastate American communities, he added.
