Days after U.S. President Donald Trump’s account was banned, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey explained that it was the right decision, but still sets a dangerous precedent.

Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey has called out the US crypto firm Coinbase for seeking to suppress political activism and suggesting employees who think differently should leave. Jack Dorsey criticized the major US crypto firm for its open letter to employees that asks employees to avoid political and social distractions and instead focus on its core mission of building a free financial system for the world. The new direction has met with strong support in some quarters and pushback from others.

Jack Dorsey criticized Coinbase for taking an apolitical stance.

Twitter CEO argued that “Bitcoin (aka crypto) is direct activism against an unverifiable and exclusionary financial system.” He went on to add that the crypto exchange cannot simply ignore social issues as this will leave its customers behind. Dorsey has long taken an active involvement in the crypto space, and the microblogging platform itself has been criticized for favoring progressive over conservative political views in its moderation process. But Dorsey’s opinion urging greater political engagement was not well received by the crypto community, with the overwhelming number of replies agreeing with Armstrong’s approach.

Jack Dorsey backs blockchain tech for Twitter’s security.

As reported earlier, Jack had reasserted his stand that in order to keep his social media platform more secure from hackers, Bitcoin and blockchain technology is the future. Twitter CEO has been a vocal advocate of bitcoin for a long time. He used the asset and its technology as an example of fresh technological innovations paving the way for greater security, trusting a less crucial component. Twitter recently witnessed a major security breach, which raised serious concerns about the users’ privacy on the platform. Jack Dorsey has also claimed that African countries will play a crucial role in the mainstream adoption of bitcoin.
