The CEO of encrypted messaging platform Telegram, Pavel Durov, said that Apple's cloud service iCloud is now officially a surveillance tool.

The tech giant Apple dropped its end-to-end encryption plans for iCloud nearly two years ago after having a conflict with the US regulators. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had complained that such a feature would harm investigators. Pavel Durov also criticized apps that use iCloud to store data.

According to the Reuters report, the tech giant Apple Inc dropped its end-to-end encryption plans for iCloud nearly two years ago. The tech giant dropped its plans after the FBI had complained that such a feature would harm investigators. The CEO of leading encrypted messaging platform Telegram said that “iCloud is now officially a surveillance tool and apps that are relying on it store your private messages (such as WhatsApp) are part of the problem.

 

Pavel Durov denies SEC claims regarding the ICO of TON.

The US SEC has charged Telegram and its CEO Pavel Durov for conducting an illegal ICO. SEC has alleged that ICO sales would help Telegram pay for servers. In an 18-hour deposition, Durov disputed such claims put forward by the SEC. Durov claimed that from the beginning, he has been funding Telegram with the proceeds from the sale of Russian social network Vkontakte. Telegram’s cryptocurrency was supposed to release in October last year, but SEC obtained a restraining order just a few weeks before. Now the launch is expected in April this year.
