The popular adult entertainment website Pornhub announced on Wednesday that it will now accept payments in the stablecoin Tether (USDT) using the TRONLink wallet. Earlier, TRON founder Justin Sun had encouraged Pornhub to add USDT to support its model.
PayPal cut off services to Pornhub.
In November last year, PayPal decided to cut off its services to Pornhub. The payment processing giant said that they had discovered that Pornhub had made certain business payments through PayPal without seeking permission. The adult entertainment website wrote in a blog post that it is devastated by PayPal’s decision to stop payouts. Over a hundred thousand performers on the website rely on these payments for their livelihoods, it added.
Justin Sun criticizes centralized payment platforms.
Justin tweeted that Pornhub’s decision to add support for USDT is a brilliant way to support the victims of centralized payment platforms like PayPal. The adult entertainment website has also been supporting the privacy-centric coin Verge (XVG) on its platform since April 2018. The website also added that since PayPal’s decision to stop payouts to thousands of performers, they have been hustling to offer more options. Pornhub revealed that USDT transactions can take place within a few seconds and that there are “no fees.”
