Business tycoon Michael Bloomberg kick-started his presidential campaign yesterday in Norfolk, Virginia. According to Forbes, Michael Bloomberg is the 8th richest person in the country, with a net worth of $54.4 billion. He is joining the other 17 candidates eyeing for the democratic nomination to go against President Donald Trump.

In a statement, the business tycoon wrote that he is running for the president to defeat Donald Trump and rebuild America. He added that he believes in his unique set of experiences in business, government, and philanthropy that would enable him to win and lead.
Massachusetts born Michael Bloomberg made a name for himself by creating the financial publishing empire that bears his name. Before building the publishing empire, Bloomberg started out in business as a Wall Street banker.

Michael Bloomberg became the mayor of New York City in 2001 and remained in office till 2013. It is being said that Michael believes that the current field of Democratic candidates is not strong enough to challenge Mr. Trump. As of now, the former Vice-President Joe Biden, Senators Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders are front runners for the Democratic nominee.
In his official announcement, Bloomberg wrote that he would be the only candidate who isn’t going to take a penny from anyone and will work for a dollar a year. Stopping gun violence and fighting climate change are some of the issues that he promised to work on.
