Japan-based messaging giant Line’s crypto exchange BitBox announced to delist Ripple’s XRP. The exchange did not give any specific reasons as to why they delisted the third-largest cryptocurrency in the market. XRP holders have till 16th February to withdraw their funds.

BitBox will delist XRP on 16th January.

According to the announcement, BitBox users will no longer be able to trade or deposit in XRP, and they have till 16th February to withdraw funds. Even though the exchange did not reveal as to why it delisted XRP from its platform, but according to its guidelines the exchange delists a coin when they do not meet its standards based on “performance, reliability, liquidity, or law and regulatory needs.” BitBox crypto exchange was launched in 2018 and is one of the two crypto platforms that Line operates.

Earlier, the CEO of Ripple defended Ripple’s decision to sell XRP tokens in huge amounts. He said they can not influence the price of XRP despite being the biggest holder. But he acknowledged that Ripple would benefit from XRP’s success. He also claimed that Ripple can not control the price of XRP any more than the whales can control the price of bitcoin.
