Twitter CEO is planning to make the social media platform decentralized. Jack Dorsey is putting together a team of five people that will work on making the social media platform decentralized. Dorsey tweeted that “the goal is for Twitter to ultimately be a client of this standard.”
Finally, new technologies have emerged to make a decentralized approach more viable. Blockchain points to a series of decentralized solutions for open and durable hosting, governance, and even monetization. Much work to be done, but the fundamentals are there.

Decentralized Twitter is a long term goal.
The CEO in a series of tweets revealed that building a decentralized twitter would not happen overnight and might take years. He also mentioned all the problems that the current social media platform is facing, including hate speech, an algorithm that promotes more controversial content. With new technology in place, Twitter aims to solve all those problems and make the social media platform a place where healthier ideas can be promoted.
Crypto community welcomes Jack Dorsey’s decision.
Binance CEO, Changpeng Zhao replied to Dorsey’s tweets in a positive way. CZ wrote, “Social media Free speech Self/decentralized governance Protocol > platform Blockchain,” approving Jack’s decision. Anthony Pompliano, co-founder and partner at Morgan Creek Digital, wrote, “Jack Dorsey may understand the future better than any entrepreneur on the planet right now.” Jack’s vision for the future of social media is being appreciated in the tech world. Recently, British actor Sacha Baron Cohen’s speech about regulating social media platform went viral in which he blamed platforms like Facebook and Twitter for spreading hate speech and extremist propaganda.
