On Tuesday, Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) warned that financial firms are not allowed to offer and facilitate sales of crypto assets.

Crypto exchange Huobi is launching a fiat gateway in Indonesia to facilitate fiat-to-crypto trading between the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) and Tether. Earlier, Huobi exchange received an investment of $4.6 million from Tokai Tokyo financial holdings.

“The new fiat gateway is part of Huboi’s global expansion strategy.”

Huobi Group announced that the new fiat gateway on its Indonesian subsidiary is a part of its global expansion strategy. The official announcement further added that it reflects their ongoing commitment to working with reliable local partners in key markets across the globe. “By continuing to add new fiat/crypto pairs for Huobi Cloud 2.0, we want to make it frictionless for investors anywhere in the world to trade digital assets on a trusted and proven platform,” the announcement read.

The exchange received a $4.6 million investment from Tokai Tokyo.

As reported earlier, Huobi’s Japanese subsidiary received an investment of 500 million from Tokai Tokyo Financial holdings this week. The financial holdings firm aims to promote new businesses in the areas of crypto exchange, IEOs, and crypto management and storage services. Tokai Tokyo, in return, will acquire shares in the Japanese branch of the crypto exchange.
