Square, a U.S. based financial services company has hired ex-Google director, Steve Lee as the first member of its cryptocurrency team. According to Square in a tweet on June 12, 2019, Lee is somebody who can live up to his commitment to decentralization.

Steve Lee, on the other hand, worked with the search engine giant, Google for eight years before he resigned in 2015. At this time, it is currently uncertain what his role will be in Square since the company has not outlined this. Jack Dorsey, Square, and Twitter CEO has also declined to make comments in that regard.
Nonetheless, the CEO had hinted on March 20, 2019, in a tweet that Square intends to hire three to four cryptocurrency engineers and a designer. According to him at the time, they will focus on open-source contributions to the cryptocurrency space.
