Andrey Rybkin, an ex-employee of the nuclear research center in Russia, has been incarcerated for performing illicit mining of bitcoin. The center develops atomic bombs, and Rybkin used the facility to mine BTC cryptocurrency.

On Thursday, the Russian man was convicted to three years and three months in prison for the “unauthorized use of computer capabilities.” Rybkin will also pay a fine worth 200,000 rubles ($3,130). He worked at the research facility in the city of Sarov.

Earlier this year in September, another employee of the firm was accused of carrying out the same unlawful act. He was fined 450,000 rubles ($7,045) and sentenced to four-year imprisonment. With high-tech facilities available at the center, it seems to lure workers. The installation of new supercomputers is speculated to be one of the prime reasons for illicit acts being performed at the leading center.
