Dutch Minister of Finance has asked Central banks to regulate cryptocurrency firms by January 2020 due to money laundering concerns.

Dutch ministers had urged the country’s government in July to look after and regulate certain cash payments and cryptocurrencies due to suspicion and concerns about money laundering.

The Dutch central banks have finally announced that they will start regulating the firms that deal with cryptocurrency-related services from 10th January 2020. The De Nederlandsche Bank has asked the relevant firms to register with the institution to continue their operations.

Dutch Minister of Finance, Wopke Hoekstra received an advice letter from the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets and De Nederlandsche Bank suggesting a licensing system to be introduced for cryptocurrency firms and their services.
