Congressman who called for a blanket ban on crypto will chair Subcommittee on Investor Protection.

The US Congressman Brad Sherman, who once proposed a blanket ban on cryptocurrencies, has been elected as chairman of the Subcommittee on Investor Protection Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets.


The House Financial Services Committee announced that Democrat Congressman Brad Sherman had been elected by the Democratic Caucus, and further development is subject to approval Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. Sherman will replace Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney.


Chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee is also anti-crypto.

Brad Sherman and Chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, Maxine Waters, both have negative views on cryptocurrencies. Recently, Waters said that her concern remains with allowing a company like Facebook to issue an alternative global currency. Brad Sherman had earlier said that US citizens should be prohibited from buying or mining cryptocurrency.
