Coinbase, in a blog post, announced the launch of Coinbase Custody International that is set in Dublin, Ireland. The company said that the client demand for international-grade custodial service drove them to go global. Coinbase aims to meet the demands of institutional investors in Europe and beyond.

Coinbase Custody has $8 billion in assets under custody.

Coinbase, the separate entity from Coinbase Custody International, received an e-money license in October 2019, from Irish authorities. Coinbase custody had $7 billion in assets under custody last November, but the number grew to $8 billion in two months. The company wrote that its mission with international custody is to provide the broadest digital asset coverage of institutional-grade custodian.

Coinbase hires top Google executive as its Chief Product Officer.

Coinbase also announced on Wednesday that they have hired Surojit Chatterjee as its new Chief Product Officer. Surojit worked at Google for the past 11 years holding various roles. The company wrote that Surojit would play a critical role in making the cryptocurrency accessible to millions of people through Coinbase’s suite of products. Surojit was Vice President of Product at Google, where he oversaw Google Shopping.

Surojit believes that crypto and blockchain tech can help open up the financial system for everyone by growing cross-border commerce, lowering transaction costs, and by providing higher security.
