Manitoba Hydro, situated in Winnipeg, Canada, is an electric power and gas utility corporation that has warned it’s users about the scam phone calls that pose as them but are from scammers.

As people were recovering from the IRS fake letters scam and Sextortion scams, another scam has come forward in which the scammers are using phone calls to target people.

Manitoba Hydro, situated in Winnipeg, Canada, is an electric power and gas utility service providing corporation. The Crown corporation has warned it’s users about the scam phone calls which has been more than 50 calls in a week.

Scammers will call up the customers posing as company employees and tell them that their account needs payment, then they try to get the person to pay the bills at bitcoin machines that are present in Winnipeg.

Hydro’s Riley McDonald further said that these scammers use the numbers that look like company numbers to make it look like a genuine call from the company. But if they are not able to reach out to you, they will leave a voicemail with a different number.

McDonald added that they don’t take payments via phone, PayPal, wire transfers, bitcoin ATM’s, or credit cards. They are working with the Winnipeg Police to find out who the scammers are before any more damage is done to people.
