Governor Brian Kemp officially appointed Bakkt CEO Kelly Loeffler as the next Georgia Senate. Loeffler will fill current Senator Johny Isakson’s seat.

Earlier it was speculated that the governor Kemp would pick Bakkt’s CEO Kelly Loeffler to fill the vacant US Senate seat, but on Wednesday, it was made official. Bakkt’s CEO will have to contest election in 2021 if she wishes to extend her stay as US Senator.

Kemp appointed Bakkt’s CEO against the wish of President Trump.

It was reported that President Trump expressed a preference for the Representative from Georgia, Doug Collins. But Kelly Loeffler had the backing of Senate Majority Leader Mith McConnell. Loeffler will join the US Senate on Jan.1,2020. Bakkt was launched this year in September after several delays because of regulations. It is expected that someone like Kelly Loeffler as the US Senator could be a real positive boost for the crypto industry.

Kelly Loeffler to step down as Bakkt’s CEO.

Bakkt, in an official statement, congratulated Kelly for her appointment to the US Senate. Kelly will step down from the Bakkt’s CEO position before she is sworn in. The ICE subsidiary Bakkt did not reveal who will be the next CEO of the bitcoin futures exchange. Kelly had previously revealed that she stands with President Trump, but she did not comment on what are her plans about regulating the crypto industry.
