According to the local news publisher TASS, United Russia, the ruling party of Russia has launched an e-voting system based on the blockchain technology. The system shall be used for the upcoming primary elections of Russia in September this year.
According to United Russia, the system will be accessible by the general public of the country that has successfully passed the authorization on public services portal. This will ensure that the link shall be obtained from the data provided by the citizen’s passport thus making the voting system easier to use. Also, the candidates that are participating in the voting this year shall be able to upload their personal pages including pictures, videos, news and other updates on this website. The account is integrated with all social networking sites and is also available for mobile devices.
Blockchain voting will ensure transparency and at the same time will not allow any modification of the data. Russia has been on the upfront when it comes to technology adoption especially in the field of the blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Earlier, the president of the country Vladimir Putin had also ordered the regulation of cryptocurrencies in the country by the end of June this year. Also, the country’s lower house of parliament is also planning to launch an oil-backed digital currency.
