Nathan Wyatt is facing charges of aggravated identity theft, threatening to damage a protected computer, and conspiring to commit those and other computer fraud offenses, according to the US Department of Justice. The Dark Overload targeted victims in the St. Louis, Missouri, area beginning in 2016.

Nathan pleaded not guilty to all charges.

39-year-old Nathan Wyatt pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently detained pending further proceedings. The accused was detained from the United Kingdom to the Eastern District of Missouri and arraigned on Dec. 18 before US Magistrate Judge Shirley Padmore Mensah. A federal Jury indicted Wyatt in November 2017. The Dark Overload hacker group hacked into computers of multiple US companies and stole information.

The Dark Overload demanded bitcoin in ransom.

In 2016, The Dark Overload of which Wyatt is allegedly a part of accessed computers of several US companies and stole sensitive data and threatened to release the companies’ data unless they are paid in bitcoin. Victims in Missouri included healthcare providers, accounting firms, and others. The group then sold sensitive data of people on the darknet in exchange for bitcoin.

Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division said that this extradition shows that the hackers hiding behind The Dark Overload moniker will be held accountable for their alleged extortion of American companies.
